Repair or replace in Gipsey Bridge?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

What you get with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Everything repaired in place

Read our prices page and bath cost comparison.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Gipsey Bridge: your questions answered

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Are there extra charges for Gipsey Bridge?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

How long before I can use the bath?

Usually the next day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Do you cover the entire of Lincolnshire?

Across the UK, so Gipsey Bridge is covered. Prices don’t change with location.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How it works

You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Upload a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, with your PE22 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Common problems we fix in Gipsey Bridge

Rust usually starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

People typically call us when they notice something like this:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Chips under the taps
  • Chips caused by builders

Questions to ask before you book

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How to care for the finish
  • What happens if they find more damage

How to compare quotes

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Gipsey Bridge. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
