Trusted bath repair in Great Stukeley

Bath repair at your home in Great Stukeley

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Common call-outs are for a chip where the taps sit and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, across roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cambridgeshire.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes two to three hours for most chips.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Common questions in Great Stukeley

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including Great Stukeley and the rest of Cambridgeshire. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send photos.

How long before I can use the bath?

Generally the following day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Generally, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Will the repair last?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What affects the price in Great Stukeley

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material
  • How many areas need work
  • What kind of damage it is

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your photos

You can take the photos on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.
