Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Skip bleach and gritty creams and give it a rinse after each bath.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.

Bath repair in Greosabhagh, done in place

A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We work on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people get in touch are rusty patches near the plughole and damage beneath the taps.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Greosabhagh as everywhere else we work.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Make sure the area is dry

What we can’t put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Should you replace it?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Common questions in Greosabhagh

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We come back with a fixed price, generally with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many areas need work
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a fixed quote

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.
