FAQs for Griston
How much does bath repair cost in Griston?
Repairs from £95. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item with your IP25 postcode.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
Will it make a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
When can you do it?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Do you come to Griston?
We do. Repair technicians travel to Griston from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
Do you charge for travel?
There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.
I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?
Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
Why book with us
- We leave the room as we found it
- A year’s guarantee on all work

What happens on the day
We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to care for the repair
Looking after the surface is easy:
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.
Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
