How we handle bath repair in Haigh

Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Our technicians work on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are scratches you can feel with a fingernail and a cracked acrylic bath.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Barnsley.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Haigh

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Haigh as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

  • Cast iron enamel

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

Common problems we fix in Haigh

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

What to look for in a quote

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • What prep work is covered
  • Aftercare advice
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers

10 questions to ask before booking

Should you replace it?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Generally it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Why book with us

  • A fixed quote before you book
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

See our pricing and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
