Trusted bath repair in High Spen

Bath repair in High Spen without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Whether it’s deep scratches in acrylic and a chipped rim or side, we can help, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim typically crack when it comes out, a new panel is often needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Everything repaired in place
  • One visit for most repairs

Questions from High Spen

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you come to High Spen?

We do. We send a technician to High Spen for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Usually. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Will the repair last?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Are there extra charges for High Spen?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

When to call us in High Spen

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How long it needs to cure
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Choosing a repair company

How the visit works

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Open a window if you can
