Bath repair in Hobson without replacing anything
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. If you’re dealing with chips along the edge of the bath and impact holes in acrylic, we can help.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Hobson as everywhere else we work.

The process
Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to care for it.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the day after.
Before we arrive
- Ensure the room can be ventilated
- Let us know about parking or access
- Ensure the area is dry

Advice
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.
How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. These are the things that affect it:
- Doing more than one item at once
- The material
- The type of damage
- How easy the damage is to reach
The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
How to get a fixed price
Phone photos are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- The material, if you know it
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.
Landlords, agents and businesses in Hobson
For anyone letting property in or around Hobson, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Gateshead and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
Hobson questions
What happens if you find more damage?
If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
Can pets and children be at home?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.
Can you redo an old repair?
Yes, we do this often. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.
How soon can you come?
That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Are you accredited?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Aftercare tips
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
Common problems we fix in Hobson
Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.
Look out for any of the following:
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
- Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
- Impact holes in acrylic
Before booking anyone
- How to care for the finish
- What prep work is covered
- Who turns up on the day
- How long it needs to cure
What we can’t put right
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
