About our bath repair in Listerdale

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, generally in a single visit. Whether it’s deep scratches in acrylic and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, we can help.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes two to three hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Advice

When to call us in Listerdale

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the base flex.

Customers generally contact us about:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting

Comparing quotes

  • Who will actually do the work
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • What prep work is covered
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included

How to compare quotes

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Listerdale as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will arrange it.

What we cannot put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Should you replace it?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Why Listerdale customers choose us

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted

There is nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
