How we handle bath repair in Little Laver

Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We are often asked to fix holes from dropped items and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, across whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

When we would advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There is no charge for travel to Little Laver. The price depends on:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material and finish

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • The material, if you know it
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

If you’re in Little Laver and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Your questions about bath repair in Little Laver

Do you cover Little Laver?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Little Laver and the rest of Essex. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

When can I have a bath again?

Most baths can be used the following day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

The process

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Getting a price

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Signs you need bath repair in Little Laver

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

What to look for in a quote

  • What prep work is covered
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers

Choosing a repair company

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
