Bath repair in Minting without replacing anything
We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Whether it’s impact holes in acrylic and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, we can generally put it right.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.
What happens on the day
Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the following day.
Preparing for the visit

Advice
Questions from Minting
Will you leave a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Is repairing better than replacing?
In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.
Which areas do you work in?
We cover the whole UK, including Minting and the rest of Lincolnshire. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.
How quickly can you book me in?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
Can you quote from pictures?
In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
Are you accredited?
We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
What else we do in Minting
Repair or replace in Minting?
Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.
Why Minting clients choose us
- One visit for most repairs
- We leave the room as we found it
- A fixed quote before you book
- CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

For landlords and businesses
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.
When a repair isn’t the answer
To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.
Surfaces we repair
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Acrylic
- Cast iron enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Pressed steel enamel
What bath repair costs
Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Unusual colours or finishes
- How easy the damage is to reach
- What kind of damage it is
Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
Getting a price from photos
When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Details of any past repairs
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- What it’s made of, if you know
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.
Looking after it afterwards
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.
If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
DIY kit or professional repair?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
