Need bath repair in Neilsland?

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Bath repair in Neilsland without replacing anything

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, usually in a single visit. Whether it’s chips caused by builders and rust spots around the plughole, we can usually put it right.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many areas need work

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

When to call us in Neilsland

Rust generally starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Chips under the taps
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Chips along the edge of the bath

FAQs for Neilsland

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Typically the day after. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

How much does bath repair cost in Neilsland?

Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item and your postcode.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Do you work in Neilsland?

We do. Technicians travel to Neilsland from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is often needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

When we would advise against a repair

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a morning or an afternoon. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, typically by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
