Bath repair in New Mill without replacing anything

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel, and common reasons people contact us are cracks in an acrylic bath and a hole punched through by something heavy.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a fixed quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Common problems we fix in New Mill

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Chips caused by builders
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

Before you book anyone

  • How long it needs to cure
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Whether they match the colour on site

How to compare quotes

Repair or replace: which is better?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why New Mill clients choose us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Work done at your home or business

The process

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know about parking or access

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

Your questions about bath repair in New Mill

Is a bath repair permanent?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

When can I have a bath again?

Generally the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Do you come to New Mill?

We do. We send a technician to New Mill for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.
