Bath repair in Northborough, done in place
Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We’re frequently asked to fix hairline or through cracks in acrylic and chips under the taps, in cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

FAQs for Northborough
Will the repair last?
A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.
How long does the repair take to cure?
Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.
Can tenants book a repair?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Will the repair show?
On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
What happens next?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.
How soon can you come?
That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.
How do I book?
Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.
What happens on the day
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which typically takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.
Before we arrive
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Let us know if it has been repaired before

Looking after it afterwards
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.
Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
What bath repair costs
Repairs from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Northborough. The price comes down to:
- How much damage there is
- Unusual colours or finishes
- The material
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
How to get a fixed price
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Something in shot to show the size
- Any details about the material
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
When to call us in Northborough
Rust typically starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Chips caused by builders
- Damage beneath the taps
- A kit repair that didn’t last
What to look for in a quote
- How to look after the finish
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- How soon you can use it again
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
Repair or replace in Northborough?
A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
What you get with us

What your bath is made of matters
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.
When we’d advise against a repair
In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- A steel bath rusted through
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
