How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Have new chips seen to early

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

Bath repair at your home in Osmaston

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We work on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding, and common reasons people contact us are cracks in an acrylic bath and rust spots around the plughole.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Common questions in Osmaston

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes, we do this often. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Do you cover the entire of Derby?

Across the UK. Prices do not change with location.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the following day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Why repair rather than replace?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Prices start from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Colour-matched on site
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Work done at your home or business

See our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes two to three hours for most chips, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

Repairs by material

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
