Bath repair for Over homes

Bath repair in Over, done in place

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. You can typically use the bath the next day. Common call-outs are for a chipped rim or side and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, in pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Landlord and trade work in Over

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Should you replace it?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one generally means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. Repairing it deals only with the damage in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we work on in Over

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How much damage there is

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive

There’s nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.
