Bath repair near Parslow's Hillock

Bath repair at your home in Parslow's Hillock

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We work on pressed steel enamel, acrylic and cast iron enamel, and people most frequently call us about chips along the edge of the bath and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Buckinghamshire.

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

How quickly can you book me in?

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

What do you need from me?

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Have new chips seen to early

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

The process

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

10 questions to ask before booking

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Why us?

  • We leave the room as we found it

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

What we can’t put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
