Bath repair for Pen-y-bont homes

How we handle bath repair in Pen-y-bont

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Our technicians work on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and common reasons people contact us are rusty patches near the plughole and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Pen-y-bont and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Repair or replace in Pen-y-bont?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.

What you get with us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • No need to remove anything
  • One price list for the entire UK

When a repair isn’t the answer

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A steel bath rusted through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

Landlords, agents and businesses in Pen-y-bont

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What affects the price in Pen-y-bont

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How easy the damage is to reach

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
