About our bath repair in Penmaen

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. You can generally use the bath the next day. Our technicians work on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are a cracked acrylic bath and chips under the taps.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which typically takes two to three hours for most chips. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

For landlords and businesses

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many areas need work
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Upload a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, with your NP12 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Repair or replace in Penmaen?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Our bath repair starts from £95. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why Penmaen clients choose us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • A fixed quote before booking

See our prices page or bath cost comparison.

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
