Landlords, agents and businesses in Portland
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.
How we handle bath repair in Portland
You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. We are often asked to fix hairline or through cracks in acrylic and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, across roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Portland as everywhere else we work.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Why repair rather than replace?
A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to look after the repair
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.
Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Take it off before we arrive.

What we can’t put right
In fairness, some problems need a different fix:
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

How it works
On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips, including clearing up.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Ensure the area is dry
How to get a price

Signs you need bath repair in Portland
Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Impact holes in acrylic
- Chips on the rim or sides
- Snagging damage from a refit
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
What to look for in a quote
- What aftercare is recommended
- How your room will be protected
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
Common questions in Portland
Can you price it without visiting?
In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.
What areas do you cover?
All of Dorset, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.
Can you redo an old repair?
Yes, we do this often. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.
Is my repair covered?
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
When can I have a bath again?
Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we’ve done.
Is a bath repair durable?
A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:
- How hard the colour is to match
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- How many items we do on one visit
Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Portland. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Send pictures for a quote
You can take the pictures on your phone. Make sure they show:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- A picture taken from further back
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
To get a price, send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
