Bath repair in Sheerwater, done in place

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Whether it’s a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and cracks in an acrylic bath, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Sheerwater. What changes the price is:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your pictures

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for two to three hours for most chips from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Ask for a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a fitted bath normally means a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why Sheerwater clients choose us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Signs you need bath repair in Sheerwater

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Rust by the waste and overflow

What your quote should include

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Your questions about bath repair in Sheerwater

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Do you cover the whole of Surrey?

All of Surrey, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What a repair cannot fix

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.
