How we handle bath repair in Sherwood

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Common call-outs are for rust by the waste and overflow and holes from dropped items, in cast iron enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

What we cannot put right

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Your questions about bath repair in Sherwood

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

How do I book?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

How much does bath repair cost in Sherwood?

Prices start from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Do you work in Sherwood?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Sherwood and the rest of Nottingham. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Signs you need bath repair in Sherwood

Baths take more knocks than people expect: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Chips under the taps
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

10 questions to ask before you book

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it deals only with the damage in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

See our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

What affects the price in Sherwood

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Where you are, by postcode

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and no obligation.

The process

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a few hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the next day.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
