Bath repair at your home in Stanground

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and you can normally bathe again the following day. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. Whether it’s a hole punched through by something heavy and damage beneath the taps, we can usually put it right, on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel alike.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Common problems we fix in Stanground

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

People usually call us when they notice one of these:

  • A chipped rim or side
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Stanground. The price comes down to:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Stanground. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Questions from Stanground

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Can you redo an old repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very frequently. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Will the repair last?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Do you work in Stanground?

We do. We send a technician to Stanground for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Repair or replace: which is better?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • No extra charge for your area
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

What happens on the day

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes two to three hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Landlords, agents and businesses in Stanground

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
