Bath repair at your home in Thorpe Langton

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, typically in a single visit. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are chips along the edge of the bath and a kit repair that didn’t last.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Thorpe Langton and across Northamptonshire.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Clear the area around the damage

Getting a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Advice

Should you replace it?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

FAQs for Thorpe Langton

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Thorpe Langton?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

What a repair can’t fix

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we work on in Thorpe Langton

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Thorpe Langton. The price reflects:

  • The material
  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your photos

You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

When to call us in Thorpe Langton

Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, often before anyone notices. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.

The things clients normally mention when they call include:

  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What prep work is covered
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
