Bath repair at your home in Thurgarton

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Our repair technicians work on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are rusty patches near the plughole and hairline or through cracks in acrylic.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

When we would advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A steel bath rusted through

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

The process

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Thurgarton: your questions answered

Is a bath repair durable?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Thurgarton.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the following day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What we’re called out for in Thurgarton

Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, frequently before anyone notices. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Chips along the edge of the bath

Our hiring checklist

What affects the price in Thurgarton

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Thurgarton. What changes the price is:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Send photos for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
