Your questions about bath repair in Uckfield

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we have done.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you cover the whole of East Sussex?

Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We come back with a fixed price. There is no obligation to book.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Uckfield. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • The material, if you know it

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Uckfield

If you manage property in Uckfield, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Common problems we fix in Uckfield

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Chips under the taps
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Chips on the rim or sides

What to look for in a quote

  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How your room will be protected

Our hiring checklist

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • No need to remove anything
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

See our pricing or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
