Bath repair at your home in Woolbeding

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We are frequently asked to fix a chipped rim or side and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, across cast iron enamel, acrylic and pressed steel enamel.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

When a repair isn’t the answer

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine, avoiding abrasives.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Repair or replace in Woolbeding?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Do you need bath repair in Woolbeding?

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Chips under the taps
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Questions from Woolbeding

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Often, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Tell us about it when you send pictures.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Usually, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

How it works

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
