Bath repair in Yawl, done in place
A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the following day. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. We’re frequently asked to fix deep scratches in acrylic and chips along the edge of the bath, in pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding.
You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

Your questions about bath repair in Yawl
Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?
In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.
What happens next?
You’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no obligation to book.
Can you quote from photos?
Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
How long does the repair take to cure?
Typically within a day, depending on the repair.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Is there any odour?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.
How the visit works
Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow two to three hours for most chips. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the following day.
How to prepare
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Have a window or extractor fan available

DIY kit or professional repair?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Yawl. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

When a repair isn’t the answer
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

When to call us in Yawl
Rust typically starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

- Cracks in an acrylic bath
