Bath resealing at your home in Bedfont

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. If you are dealing with black spots in the silicone and gaps in the seal, we can normally put it right, on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and baths alike.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Greater London.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job usually takes about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

What a repair cannot fix

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Keep the joints dry

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Prices and what affects them

We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send photos for a quote

You can take the photos on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Bedfont: your questions answered

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

What happens after I send photos?

We come back with a fixed price. You are under no obligation.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Do you cover the whole of Greater London?

The whole UK, including all of Greater London. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll confirm dates.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
