What a repair can’t fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A flexing bath
  • Hidden water damage

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a couple of hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Air the room after use

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

When to call us in Bracebridge

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning only removes the surface.

Most people contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Gaps by the taps
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

Our hiring checklist

Why reseal now?

Resealing costs very little and protects the walls and floor. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What affects the price in Bracebridge

A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area

Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Send pictures for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Email us a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Bracebridge, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Landlord and trade work in Bracebridge

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
