Book bath resealing in Burkham

Why reseal now?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Bath resealing in Burkham without replacing anything

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We work on baths, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are missing sealant behind the taps and a messy previous reseal.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Hampshire.

Landlord and trade work in Burkham

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

What we do, step by step

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take around two hours, including clearing up.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Do you need bath resealing in Burkham?

No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Leaks at the edges
  • Gaps by the taps
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Stained silicone

Prices and what affects them

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Any details about the material

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
