Trusted bath resealing in Bygrave

About our bath resealing in Bygrave

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. Common call-outs are for black spots in the silicone and discoloured, yellow sealant, across wet rooms, baths and shower trays & enclosures.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Bygrave use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

What affects the price in Bygrave

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Bygrave questions

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Do you come to Bygrave?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Bygrave from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

What happens after I send pictures?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Resealing in Bygrave: why it matters

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How it works

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a couple of hours, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Open a window if you can
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.
