Need bath resealing in Cardrona Village?

Why reseal now?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Cardrona Village

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Bath resealing in Cardrona Village, done in place

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint opens fully, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. We regularly repair kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are missing sealant behind the taps and damp near the bath.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Let steam out after showers

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

How the visit works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take about two hours for a bath, including clearing up.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

10 questions to ask before you book

How we price bath resealing

A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

How to get a fixed quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath or shower, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.
