Our hiring checklist

Bath resealing at your home in Dalton-le-Dale

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Whether it’s gaps by the taps and black spots in the silicone, we can help, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Dalton-le-Dale questions

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How much does bath resealing cost in Dalton-le-Dale?

Every job gets a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your SR7 postcode.

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Can new silicone go over old?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

How we price bath resealing

Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many areas need work
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Send photos for a quote

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath or shower, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow about two hours for a bath. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
