About our bath resealing in East Dundry

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Typical jobs include gaps in the seal and leaks at the edges, across baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in East Dundry as everywhere else we work.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

When we would advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A flexing bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Use the extractor fan

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally around 24 hours.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

What bath resealing costs

A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The colour and finish to match

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

You can typically get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A photo taken from further back

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for about two hours for a bath. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Advice

Why it’s worth resealing in East Dundry

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Why us?

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • No need to remove anything
  • No extra charge for your area

Your questions about bath resealing in East Dundry

Do you cover the whole of North Somerset?

We cover the whole UK, including East Dundry and the rest of North Somerset. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

What do you need from me?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone will not bond to old.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Signs you need bath resealing in East Dundry

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: damp hangs around, and mould takes hold.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • A messy previous reseal
