Bath resealing for Easton homes

Bath resealing in Easton, done in place

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Our technicians work on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people contact us are gaps by the taps and black mould in the sealant.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Easton as everywhere else we work.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take a couple of hours. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Clear the area around the damage

Related advice

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

10 questions to ask before booking

Resealing in Easton: why it matters

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Easton: your questions answered

What happens next?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

How long does resealing take?

A bath or shower typically takes a couple of hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Easton and the rest of Cambridgeshire. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
