Bath resealing for Giltbrook homes

Bath resealing in Giltbrook, done in place

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Whether it’s water getting behind the bath or tray and missing sealant behind the taps, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

How it works

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes around two hours, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

Prices and what affects them

We do not charge extra for travel to Giltbrook. The price depends on:

  • The material and finish
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How easy the damage is to reach

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Quotes from your photos

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

If you are in Giltbrook and want a price, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

What we cannot put right

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Questions from Giltbrook

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Are there extra charges for Giltbrook?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we will arrange it.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Do you need bath resealing in Giltbrook?

No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed:

  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

What your quote should include

  • How long it needs to cure
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Aftercare advice
  • Who will actually do the work
