Bath resealing for Green Lane homes

Bath resealing in Green Lane without replacing anything

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint is at its widest, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. We are often asked to fix black spots in the silicone and water getting behind the bath or tray, in kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and baths.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How it works

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes about two hours for a bath, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Signs you need bath resealing in Green Lane

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould takes hold.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • A messy previous reseal
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Black mould in the sealant

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Who turns up on the day

How to compare quotes

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Green Lane as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What affects the price in Green Lane

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • The material and finish
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Getting a price from photos

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Why reseal now?

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
