Resealing in Lassington: why it matters

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Bath resealing at your home in Lassington

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Common call-outs are for gaps by the taps and stained silicone, on baths, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It normally takes around two hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

When to call us in Lassington

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Leaks at the edges
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Gaps by the taps

Before booking anyone

  • What preparation is included
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

Choosing a repair company

Repairs by material

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Air the room after use
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Avoid scraping the joints, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Questions from Lassington

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

No, we never seal over old silicone. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

What areas do you cover?

The whole UK, including all of Gloucestershire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll offer you dates.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.

What bath resealing costs

We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • How many areas need work
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Send pictures for a quote

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Upload a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, with your GL2 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
