Bath resealing at your home in Longstone

Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they keep water out. We regularly repair wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are an untidy old seal and stained silicone.

Common questions in Longstone

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

What areas do you cover?

All of Edinburgh, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Longstone?

We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item with your EH14 postcode.

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

What we cannot put right

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths

What affects the price in Longstone

A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material and finish
  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

How to get a fixed quote

You can normally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Where you are, by postcode

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Do you need bath resealing in Longstone?

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • An untidy old seal
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Sealant that is split or lifting

How to compare quotes

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow around two hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Clear the area around the damage

How to get a price

Send us a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Longstone, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.
