Trusted bath resealing in Norbury

Bath resealing at your home in Norbury

All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. We work on shower trays & enclosures, baths and basins & vanity units, and common reasons people get in touch are old sealant that looks dirty and silicone smeared on tiles.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes about two hours for a bath. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Air the room after use
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Why it’s worth resealing in Norbury

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

What affects the price in Norbury

We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Any details about the material
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Something in shot to show the size

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Norbury questions

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Do you cover the entire of Greater London?

All of Greater London, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Greater London.

Do you come to Norbury?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Norbury and the rest of Greater London. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

What we’re called out for in Norbury

Sealant does not last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting

Questions to ask before you book

  • How soon you can use it again
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included

10 questions to ask before you book

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
