When a repair is not the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Bath resealing in Rhiwderin without replacing anything

Preparation is everything in a reseal: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s silicone coming away from the tiles and stained silicone, we can help, on wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks alike.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Rhiwderin: your questions answered

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Rhiwderin. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why us?

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • No need to remove anything
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Common problems we fix in Rhiwderin

Sealant doesn’t last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Leaks at the edges

What to look for in a quote

  • What prep work is covered
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

How to compare quotes

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Prices and what affects them

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How many items we do on one visit

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Details of any past repairs

Send us photos of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Rhiwderin, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

What happens on the day

We begin by going over the job with you. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow about two hours for a bath, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
