Need bath resealing in Rotherhithe?

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

About our bath resealing in Rotherhithe

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Common call-outs are for black spots in the silicone and damp near the bath, across baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Common problems we fix in Rotherhithe

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

People normally call us after spotting something like this:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Black mould in the sealant

Questions to ask before booking

  • When it can be used again
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

What bath resealing costs

There’s no charge for travel to Rotherhithe. The price depends on:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material
  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Quotes from your pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone. Make sure they show:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Landlord and trade work in Rotherhithe

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Rotherhithe use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

The process

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a couple of hours, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
