Bath resealing in Sloothby, done in place

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s missing sealant behind the taps and mould you can’t clean out, we can help, whatever the material.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Sloothby as everywhere else we work.

Common problems we fix in Sloothby

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning only removes the surface.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Stained silicone
  • Sealant that is split or lifting

What your quote should include

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Aftercare advice
  • How the colour is matched
  • When it can be used again

Your questions about bath resealing in Sloothby

Do you cover Sloothby?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Sloothby from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone won’t bond to old.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Movement is the usual cause. We seal baths full of water.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

What bath resealing costs

A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your photos

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

What you get with us

  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • No extra charge for your area
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

How to look after the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

How it works

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
