Bath resealing in Stableford, done in place

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. Our repair technicians work on shower trays & enclosures, baths and wet rooms, and people most often call us about water getting behind the bath or tray and discoloured, yellow sealant.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Air the room after use
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Common problems we fix in Stableford

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning only removes the surface.

Common reasons people in Stableford contact us include:

  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Damp near the bath
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Black mould in the sealant

10 questions to ask before you book

What affects the price in Stableford

We don’t charge extra for travel to Stableford. The price comes down to:

  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed quote

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The material, if you know it

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

When a repair is not the answer

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

Why it’s worth resealing in Stableford

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow around two hours. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
