What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Hidden water damage

  • A flexing bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

How we handle bath resealing in Strongstry

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, plus curing time. If you are dealing with gaps by the taps and black spots in the silicone, we can normally put it right, on basins & vanity units, baths and kitchen worktops & sinks alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

The process

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a couple of hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

How to get a price

Advice

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing to keep mould away.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Prices and what affects them

We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What the surface is made of
  • The type of damage

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed price

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash

Upload pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your BL0 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Strongstry

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Same prices wherever you are

10 questions to ask before you book

FAQs for Strongstry

How long will it take?

Most reseals take about two hours. It then needs time to cure.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

Are there extra charges for Strongstry?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

How much does bath resealing cost in Strongstry?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
