Bath resealing near Sutton

Bath resealing at your home in Sutton

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. We regularly repair shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks, and common reasons people contact us are water getting behind the bath or tray and black spots in the silicone.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a couple of hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Air the room after use
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

FAQs for Sutton

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Typically because the bath or tray moves. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

How long will it take?

Around two hours for a bath, then it needs to cure.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote with dates.

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Do you cover Sutton?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Sutton and the rest of Doncaster. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
