Common questions in Turton Bottoms

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Normally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed price, typically with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in Turton Bottoms.

Bath resealing in Turton Bottoms, done in place

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they protect the walls and floor. Typical jobs include unsealed corners and an untidy old seal, across kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the work takes around two hours. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Preparing for the visit

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Resealing in Turton Bottoms: why it matters

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Why book with us

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • One price list for the entire UK

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

When to call us in Turton Bottoms

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: damp hangs around, and mould takes hold.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Unsealed corners
  • Old sealant that looks dirty

Questions to ask before you book

  • When it can be used again
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What preparation is included
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long

Choosing a repair company

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

What we can’t put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hidden water damage

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.
