Bath resealing in Waterloo

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

Bath resealing at your home in Waterloo

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Whether it’s old sealant that looks dirty and gaps in the seal, we can normally put it right, on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and baths alike.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Waterloo as everywhere else we work.

Signs you need bath resealing in Waterloo

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to a couple of hours, tidy-up included.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

What a repair cannot fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Waterloo

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • No need to remove anything

See our prices page.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Waterloo questions

Do you seal over the old sealant?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone won’t bond to old.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Greater London. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll confirm dates.
