Bath resealing in Wheaton Aston

Bath resealing at your home in Wheaton Aston

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint is at its widest, so the seal doesn’t tear when the bath is first used. We regularly repair kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and wet rooms, and common reasons people contact us are sealant that’s split or lifting and water getting behind the bath or tray.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

When we would advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand. On site, it takes around two hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Use the extractor fan

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Wheaton Aston, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Your questions about bath resealing in Wheaton Aston

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mould needs moisture. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What areas do you cover?

All of Staffordshire, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

How long will it take?

A bath or shower usually takes a couple of hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Do you come to Wheaton Aston?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Wheaton Aston from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Common problems we fix in Wheaton Aston

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: damp hangs around, and mould grows faster.

People normally call us after spotting one of these:

  • Stained silicone
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • An untidy old seal

What your quote should include

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How the room is protected while they work

Choosing a repair company

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What bath resealing costs

We don’t charge extra for travel to Wheaton Aston. The price comes down to:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A picture taken from further back
  • What it’s made of, if you know

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.
