Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Air the room after use
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

Bath resealing at your home in Whitle

Preparation is everything in a reseal: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Common call-outs are for gaps in the seal and missing sealant behind the taps, in shower trays & enclosures, baths and basins & vanity units.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Common problems we fix in Whitle

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Sealant that is split or lifting

Prices and what affects them

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • The material and finish
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Access to the area

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

FAQs for Whitle

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We seal baths full of water.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Do you work in Whitle?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Whitle and the rest of Derbyshire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Derbyshire.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Is resealing worth it?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow around two hours from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
